If it originaly had twin SU's, It's from a 67-68 or 69 MkIII.  The 70 MkIII
had a single ZS.  The 71 or 72 1300 is a different engine, similar to the
1500, also single ZS.  

The only transmission mating problem may be the clutch disk.  Your
transmission has fine splines, the earlier spitfires had course splines and a
smaller clutch diameter if it's a MkIII.

It's  a fair price for the carbs, perhaps you don't want to deal with the
fitment problems. They'll fit your 1500, but you need some throttle cable
linkage pieces....

Post the engine number from the block, the list can tell you what it is!
