Just to add my little bit...

Cam bearings were fitted in all spitfire blocks upto Mk4 Spitfires,
(Eng no.FH25000). After this the camshaft ran in the block as per
other models, but at the reduced diameter. So you are right in your
assumptions that the cam bearings can be retro fitted to later blocks:
