Not sure what year electronic ignition came in in the States, but I'm pretty
sure that the mechanical unit was kept right the way through in Europe - maybe
someone could confirm that? Is it possible you have a European engine?

Does anyone know what model year the Spitfire was switched to the electronic
ignition? My 77 does not have it, and I am thinking that it was changed
sometime in the past.
