the gas co2 analyzers aren't much easier to use than the colortune.
they take a bit of getting use to.
Gunson units uses the 'hot-wire' resistance technique to determine gas
content. (IE: the electrical resistance of a platinum wire changes
based on surrounding atmospheric oxygen levels)
They work ( I use one myself) but only as a secondary check.
My primary checks are a colortune, balance gauge, and my hand and
nostrils near the tailpipe.
(alright, alright! no buzzzz jokes)
Seriously, the scent will tell you whether your running way to rich or not
as well as the soot build up on a clean paper towel held in front of the pipe

This is the outfit that I bought my ColourTune from. They seem to have the
best prices around for Gunson stuff. They also sell the CO analyzers for
considerably less than JC Whitney.

I found this Web site by searching around:

   http://aep.bigstep.com/

I have never had any dealings with them (I just found the site 5 minutes
ago).
