Well what the last 7 days have given me on the 78 spit is one big messin a
very short period of time, this is a 2 owner car (i'm # 2), the engine has
never been apart, I have replaced the clutch, starter, and elec. ignition,
top & interior in a period of 8 years, nothing else. Sunday the wipers
started making a noise then stopped, per list instructions, cleaned &
lubed, and now it is great, Monday developed a exhaust leak, since this is
inspection month, I was rejected for no brake lights, no reverse lights, a
bad converter, and questionable brakes. I ordered the switches and exhaust
gaskets from TRF, so today I pull the manifolds off, only 3 bolts were
holding the intake & exhaust on this car. I have been driving this car for 8
years, never a leak, passes inspection every year, the lower 3 manifold
bolts have "Never" been installed on this car, the bolt holes in the block
are rusted almost closed, the 2 holes in the intake for attaching the 2
manifolds together have never had a bolt in them. My exhaust leak is the
small center section of the gasket, all burned away, the converter is good,
how is it possible to drive this car for 84 thousand miles and never have a
exhaust leak. Well I have taken all water pipes off and now they will all be
powder-coated and reinstalled correctly. "FT"
