Good thought.  Come to think of it a buddy did the last tune-up and he is known 
for advancing the timing till it pings and then backing it off a little.  It 
would be nice it that was the cause, but I am not optimistic.  I will check it 
tomorrow.

    How's your ignition timing? If you get to much advance at higher RPM it
could cause it to heat up. I just went through this with a motorcycle.
