I got a NOS aftermarket water pump on Ebay ($44, a good deal!).
It was said to fit '71 to '74. It matches the one on my car
(a '72), except that the pulley diameter is bigger.
My current (non-original) pump has about a 4.5" diameter pulley,
and the new pump has about a 5.25" diameter pulley.
It will certainly work (once I get a bigger belt), but I
am wondering: What is the correct size for my car? For
all I know, the one I currently have could be too small.
Did they change the size at some point? The larger pulley
would make the pump and fan run slower. Since my
car does not tend to overheat, this does not worry me too much,
and there might be less fan noise on the highway.
