One advantage of Capacitive Discharge Ignition vs
conventional points and most electronic units is the
exremely fast rise time and peak amplitude of the
voltage delivered to the plugs, which will reliably
fire the plugs under vitually any conditions.
Not sure if anyone makes CDI anymore though.
