Yep, and road tax used to be about 100 pounds a year ($160+) and the test was
not cheap either. I have no idea what it costs now or what road tax is plus gas
(petrol) is a lot more expensive (last time I calculated it was 3X USA).

I doubt that they can afford it any better in Britain! But probably
in the UK, poor people are less likely to be able to afford a car
