Drove my 71 to the office this AM.
Went out to show one of my coworkers my handiwork under the hood.
I noticed some black looking stuff under the dizzy, wiped some of it with my
finger. It was carbon dust !
Pulled the cap off and the little center button for the coil a piece of the
carbon button fell out !
I have located a replacement at NAPA but my question is what caused it ? The
cap that broke was not 6 months old. The only thing I can think of is that
the last time I removed it I didn't get it back nice and straight.
I put the cap back on and even with the center part not protruding down it
still RAN !!!
Ideas ?
