More arcane hardtop headliner questions

Hello,

My MK Iv parts book shows two styles of headliner for the hardtop:
A cloth one that has three metal ribs, and some sort of more rigid
one that does not use ribs.  The footnotes say that the second one supersedes
the first, but the Commission number of the changeover has been left blank.
Has anyone ever seen the second style (original or replacement)?
