First, thank you for the generous and detailed help on this task.

Second, I got it to work finally.

I was not able to bleed it at first and couldn't understand why.

I finally decided to see if the cylinder was working and removed the line 
from the cylinder.
Well, nothing was coming out.

So I took it apart and experimented.  Made sure the openings were 
open.  They were.
Then I started to compare some of the new parts to the old parts.

The little plastic piece that goes on the piston assembly opposite the 
piston was different.

The old one was in good shape and I put it back.  It worked.

Now one last question.  Is there a way to adjust the clutch pedal?
I want to adjust it because the clutch engages about one inch from the floor.
