Head gaskets

Hello,

Are you supposed to use any sort of sealer or cement on Spit
head gaskets?  

Any other head gasket lore or wisdom would also be appreciated.
Ghe gasket I have is a grey unlabeled one I got from SpitBits
for the late 1300 (same as 1500).
