I drove home on Monday and notice the car was running better. I thought
it was my carb. adjustment that I did earlier. It turned out the
clutch for the cooling fan is starting to fail which explains some of
the strange noise coming from the engine compartment.

I wiggled the fan and it moves side ways about 1/8" and it is easier to
turn than before. I was planning to remove the clutch unit and get an
electric fan. I told this to a friend and he said why don't I try
fitting a flex fan onto the water pump. It basically does the samething
as the clutch by reducing dragg at hi rpms and no wiring needed, just
perhaps getting the right spacer for mounting.

Has anyone tried fitting a flex fan onto a Spitfire? Any thoughts on
this will be appreciated.
