Hi all - Sorry if this has been covered, but I don't remember seeing
it. How far should my brake pedal travel on a '79 1500 before it is
effective? I have to go almost all the way to the floor for decent
braking. I've adjusted and bled, bled and adjusted. I've had two shops
look at it (although not spitfire specialists). I guess I've learned to
live with it, but my wife can't handle it. Might a new master cylinder
help? Firmer flexible hoses?

Also, any recommendations on pads? I'm not concerned with long life or
max hot performance. I want good bite and feel when stone cold. I live
in a pretty hilly town, and have the car parked on a pretty steep hill.
When my wife leaves home, the long pedal travel combined with cold
everything make for a very high effort trip down the hill.

Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

Regards,

Mark Gardner
