    FWIW,the Haynes manual describes the procedure like this on page 43
section 13 step #4 bend back the locking tab of the crankshaft pulley
locking washer under the crankshaft pulley retaining bolt,or starter dog
bolt. #5,This bolt is large (1 15/16" if I remember right)blah,blah
blah...To free the bolt place a drift in the position shown (picture shows a
bolt with triangle shaped "ears" ...mine did not have them,yours might),and
hit the drift with a hammer until the bolt starts to turn.
    This is how I had to get mine to come loose. Some people have wondered
about the decision to hit this bolt with a BFH (I used a 5# sledgehammer and
had to hit it a BUNCH) but it didn't do any damage as far as I can tell.
This was done last winter and this past summer I put about 3000 miles on
this engine. Let's hope luck was on my side!!!!!!!!
