I also missed the original post, but as a long time owner,
the Mk IVs and US 1500s didn't have the map light until
the 1500 was introduced to the ROW. At that time, the map
light was made standard on all North American Spits. ISTR
that the map light was standard on all cars, but I could be
wrong.

Missed the original post, so i don't know what the other questions were.
However, and please correct me if i am wrong.  All 1500's had the maplight.
I don't know about the other models.  I would presume at the least the same
is true of the Mark IV.

Maplights were, I believe, an optional extra.  Your car should have one only
if the original owner specified they wanted one.
