Before I have the machine shop proceed, I'm hopeful that a couple of "fairly
solid" variables can be confirmed.
This is a late model mk3.
1. The compressed thickness of the head gasket? Unfortunately, upon
dismantling the engine, I tossed the gasket away and didn't think to get a
rough measurement from it. The new paper/composite gasket has a thickness
of .041"
2. The standard or stock deck height? Again, I should have measured
this at the time of tear-down but failed to think about it.
