The rear differential in my '73 Spitfire has always dripped a little bit
when parked in the garage, usually not more than a drop or two after it was
driven. Lately, I have noticed it's gotten a bit worse.

I haven't had a chance to climb under and make sure that there is no play on
either of the axles or the pinion shaft, but I haven't noticed any noises at
all from back there. Can the seals be replaced without having to pull the
differential apart to the point that the gear lash needs to be reset?

I am currently planning on pulling the car apart in the fall to rebuild all
of the suspension and the brakes. If this is a relatively easy repair, I
might take it on now, otherwise I will probably check and top off the oil
level regularly to get it through until the suspension rebuild.

Any input would be appreciated.

Thanks,
Joe Frakes
