Has anyone on the list bought a repro Bugeye grill that they were happy with.
Are they all the same, they are not all the same price, seem to run from $200
to $300 or more. I bought one from the Moss junk bin at their all British meet
in Solvang CA last July. I paid $30 for it and it looked pretty good at the
time. After trying to put it on a car I see why it was in the junk bin.
Someone probably bought it and returned it when it didn't fit. When installed
the upper lip almost fits down against the car on one side but sticks up about
1/4 inch on the other side. It looks like the grill is slightly wider at the
top then the opening in the car and will not fit down into the recess on both
sides at the same time. If anyone has bought one and is happy with the fit I
would appreciate the info on where you got it and how much you paid, or at
least where you got it. This one is also very flimsily and very easy to bend.
The original Bugeye grill has a small indentation that runs around the outer
edge of the lip that fits over the car. I think the indentation makes the
edge a little stiffer and keeps it from bending so easily, this repro grill
from Moss does not have it. Also after closer examination the chrome is
extremely thin and has a bluish tint to it.
