Monty,
You should be able to drift that pin out with a punch and hammer. Try
soaking it really well with a penetrant...or perhaps the holes on the dog
are slightly peened over...try cleaning 'em out with a counter sink or hand
held drill.
As a last resort, I've had success with heat and WD-40. Heat the area with
propane, douse with WD-40 and apply hammer and drift pin. You may have to
give it repeated applications. Be EXTRA CAUTIOUS with this method though.
WD-40 is FLAMMABLE!!!! While I've never had a problem, you have been warned.
Keep a spray bottle of water handy.
Luck and perseverance (sp?) will get it out.
