Ken,
a stock Bugeye will have no problem with that commute.  100km is only
62mph, no problem even with a 4.22:1 diff.  I would try the car for the
commute first and then see if you feel something needs changing.
The best thing you can do for reliability is drive it a lot.  Some
problems will surface once you start doing that, but when they are ironed
out, you'll have a dependable car.

The disk brakes are a worthwhile upgrade, the parts can come from any
Spridget after the switch to disks (early 60s), but more parts than you
may imagine need to be swapped over.
