Last winter while I was watching the snow come down and thinking about PCV
control in the Sprite I stumbled across something. While looking at the
diagrams of the 1098 PCV control and the early 1275 PVC control I noticed in
the 1098 the oil filler cap on the rocker cover is NON-vented. The early
1275 uses a Vented cap. After staring at the two diagrams I couldn't figure
out why the difference between the two engines. For years I have been using
a Vented cap like the book shows but after thinking about it I ordered a
closed cap and installed it. Guess what, all the oil I used to leak out the
rear oil seal disappeared. My garage floor can attest to the fact. Did I
stumble on to something or am I slow on the uptake?
