I met a guy on the airplane last night; he was on his way back from Italy.
He works for a North American manufacturer of cast magnesium auto parts
(they have a plant in Italy, nothing but a money pit he says).
Anyway, he said he has seen and sat in the "new" Mini that Rover-BMW is to
produce. His company is even supplying some parts for it.
My question is: has anyone seen reliable reports of the release date for
this car and whether it will be imported to our shores? I thought it was
originally going to have the Chrysler Neon engine but that must be scuttled
now that Chrysler is in bed with arch rival Benz.
On another note: this same guy bought a 1980 Triumph Spitfire with 300 miles
on it last year. Stored in a heated garage since new. He paid $4k for it.
