It works OK but watch the melting point of the aluminum you are heating.
Don't ask about my gate latch that turned into a puddle of melted aluminum.
But I have used it to *weld* a steering wheel boss to the wheel, so far so
good. It stood up to a hammer test because I don't want to find out it doesn't
hold while driving.
