Thread-topic: 1098 Midget engine - do they all smell this bad?
Good Morning Listers,

Two exhaust queries today:

1/ Any tips for sealing the joint between the exhaust and exhaust manifold?
Under the clamp mine was covered in some sort material ("Gun Gum" ?). Is this
normal practice?
It did not look like a gas-tight seal & may well have been the source of fumes
under the bonnet.

2/The single clamp which holds the exhaust manifold and exhaust together is not
like the one in the Moss catalogue.

In the Moss Catalogue the clamp is shown as consisting of 2 semicircular
sections with a nut and bolt at each end holding them together.

My clamp has two semicircular sections but has a nut and bolt at one end only.
At the other the two sections simply fit one inside the other to lock together.

Is this a normal replacement item?

Thanks in advance,
