Need to fit a door check strap to the driver-side door of my '69. I know
that one of these days, despite always being carful opening the door, I'm
going to crease my A-pillar. All the parts are available except the flat
metal piece that keeps the door end of the strap *inside* the door. Anybody
have one to sell? And how exactly does it attach/fix to the strap?

Thanks,
Jim Algar

P.S. - My mention a while back of fitting a gear-reduction starter prompted
a few questions about original Lucas starter/chewed up ring gear jamming
problems, and if this was the way to go to fix it. After two weeks of
running my new starter, my answer is an definite YES! These starters are
great, they're available from a number of sources, and though not cheap, if
you're having starter problems of any sort, you ought to consider one. (No,
I don't sell them, don't have any connection to anyone who does, no
financial interest, yada, yada...just sharing an opinion.)
