That was quite a story about the MB. A cautionary tale for all of us. I know
that for each car I have gotten, I go deaf when the soon-to-be PO offers any
positive information and simply assume that the engine and tranny and brakes
are shot and will need a complete rebuild. If any one part isn't that bad,
you're better off than you assumed you would be. If the value of the deal
depends on something you can't immediately evaluate, like engine health, turn
and run if rebuilding costs ruin the value.
