ya gotta realise evry one of these cars are already well past their intended
life spans from date of manufacture. good lord i have a '59 fer pete's
sake! there are some "gems" out there with low mileage or from areas where
rust does at least nap periodically (since they say rust never sleeps!) .
all that being said remember these cars were the bottom end financially of
the european sports car market. for the most part poorly treated and abused
just like evry child swore "dad i never took it over 60mph"! YEAH! RIGHT!
fun fun fun is why daddy took away the "T bird" right? so we have the rust
and abuse covered ...right? the next big factor is there are a zillion
"mechanics and electricians " out there! all are proud of their trades
respectivly! rightfully so! untill they came into contact with lucas
electronics and some of the quirky engineering on these cars! then you see
creativity at it's very best! something like my 1960 saab i brought home
from utah with barbed wire holding up the entire exhaust system! and then
we get to today! it's old so it must be an anteaque, it's old so it must be
real valuable, and it's old so a whole lot has been overlooked because the
last 10 owners had no idea where to get the right parts or how to install
them(this explains the usual trunk full, or boxes of stuff that usually
acompanies a purchase). my bugeye 29 years ago came with a (seriously!) few
truck loads of parts some of wich i stll have!!! now the good unmolested
cars are out there but far and few. rust free cars also exist! but buyer
beware is the credo to swear by as for the most part someone has carefully
repaired something that is a ticking time bomb waiting to go off! my
recomendation is find a local club and ask one of their members to go look
at it with you. an impartial second opinion willbe of great value...trust
me!

the TR7 is evil and must be disposed of! (the specific one i have here that
refuses to be repaired!)
