It shouldn't have anything to do with the studs. They are not in any way
intended to control the rotation of the bushings, just to hold them in place
so many inches apart. Is it hitting the floor of the boot ahead of the boot
mount or behind? The idea is that the front of the spring locates the axle
and the shackle allows for the length changes in the spring inherent in the
flexing action.
Usually this question means that somebody has just changed the springs and
didn't get the shackle in right.
