Disconnect the ground strap and speedo cable and exhaust bracket at the
tranny.
Drain the tranny, place a tire under it so you don't smash the tail end
seal when it drops to the floor. (I have done that a few times)
Remove the dizzy cap or whole dizzy so you don't damage it on the way
out too.
I usually unbolt the carbs and exhaust from the block and set them on
the wheel well, no messing with the exhaust donut or gasket or header
and no fishing the choke and accell cables on replacement.
Wire the exhaust manifold to the steering column to keep it out of the
way when the engine comes out.
On the mounts, remove the 3 bolts on the mount bracket/frame on the
right side.
Remove only the 2 nuts from the rubber mount on the steering column
side. It's tough to replace the steering column mount bracket, not
impossible but much easier leaving it in.
Don't forget the ground strap and speedo cable.
Keep the slave hooked up to save bleeding it later. Unbolt the bottom
bolt, remove the ground strap, pull the engine out a little and get to
the upper bolt. Just pop it off the push rod. Much easier than thru the
bung hole.
And you don't have to remove the bonnet if you use a floor jack and a
helper to pull the engine out the front.
And last but not least, don't forget the ground strap and speedo cable ;)
