Two overlapping lengths of dowel do it very accurately. Hold them together,
side by side (elastic bands help) and slide the ends of each to touch the
inner side walls at the rear circumference of the front tyres. Mark across
the two dowels and repeat at the front circumference. The difference in the
marks gives the amount of toe - in or toe - out very accurately.
Like Frank, I go for about about 1/10" toe in as it gives more directionalk
stability and better turn in than parallel
