Hello Billy,

       actually a device (an ideal resistive load) running on
       twice the voltage requires 1/4 the
       amperage,
       P=IxIxR. ..
       the same kind of mistake is commonly made about things like
       bumpers , that is thinking that a 5 mph bumper needs only be
       twice as strong as a 2.5 mph bumper. the squared law kicks in
       and it would need to be 4 times stronger!
