sent Jerry an off-list post with apologies, retracting my earlier post of this 
AM as
I confused a float bowl leak with a carb.
(jet) leak (gotta remember to have my
coffee "before" I start typin' away!:).

While I do not know the quantity of fuel leaking from the bowl, it becomes 
obvious this can lead to a low fuel level at the jet
under load and thus, under such circumstances the mixture would or
could go lean at the jet when the loud pedal is used.
