Remove the three cam retaining plate bolts through the holes in the face of 
the gear.  Turn the block upside down to drop the lifters out of the way 
(presuming the pushrods are out) and then just pull the cam straight out the 
front.
Grab the cam with one hand and hold it camgear down.  Tap around the 
perimeter with a wood hammer handle until it falls off to be destroyed on 
the concrete garage floor.
