For this operation that's pretty much the same as in the car!
2 ways, one is just a variation of the other,
Unless the timing chain is broken, the crankshaft pulley comes off at the
same time. For the cam sprocket, with the oil pump and lifters in place,
you can do it this way, but be pretty gentle. Assuming the nut and lock tab
are off and the chain is toast, put a pair of screwdrivers, longish and
tapered, behind the sprocket and tap them in so they are jammed. Then with
a brass hammer pound the camshaft end moving the cam back a bit. CAN'T be
much! Reason is, the oil pump is still in place and you can't bring back
the cam very far without damaging it and the lifters!
When the cam moves back a couple millimeter, take up the slack by tapping
the screwdrivers a bit more. If the chain seems to go tight all of a sudden
then you need to pry the crankshaft sprocket off. A small pry bar or a
hammer claw will work there.
Keep doing these moves until it's all the way off. Go to bigger thicker
screwdrivers along the way.
If the oil pump is off and the lifters are out, you can be a bit more
aggressive with the pounding back the cam.
Putting the cam sprocket back on with the lifters in and oil pump on, is
just a bit of a crap shoot. You stand a good chance of breaking the pump
and damaging the lifters. If you get the sprocket on far enough to get the
nut started, just draw the sprocket on with the nut.
Remember to center the seal in the cover with the pulley before starting to
tighten up all the little bolts. Otherwise, you'll be replacing the seal
often and forever!
