Hi,
I just gave away my 74 almost rust free project for $1500, which was
more than twice what I paid last year. I gave the guy enough extra
parts to recoup his money if he sold just the parts on ebay. When I
bought the car, from another list member, I got enough parts to recoup
my investment if I had sold parts. So, I though I'd pass the deal
along.
I traded "up" to a Miata. In many ways the Miata is better for me.
My wife will drive it, if she must. She requires A/C. The Miata is a
good car, a more practical roadster that doesn't break down. It lacks
the charm, nostalgia, and pride of ownership that you get from a
classic British sports car. But, it is as if someone cross-bred an
MGB and a Toyota. Parts are plentiful. There is a large following.
Yada, yada, yada.
I miss my Midget. My sister has three Midgets, however, in various
states of repair/disrepair. So, when I want some good old British car
grime under my fingernails, I can get it. I'm still finding Midget
parts that I had forgotten about. Hagerty insurance on the Midget was
$70 per YEAR.
As far as price goes, you aint gonna get rich selling Spridgets,
unless you are unscrupulous. Best to find a good buyer and make
him/her a good deal. Thats the spirit of British sports cars,
economical fun.
Cheers,
Derf
