I'll be watching the answers here as well because I have the same
clunk in the rear of my Midget on both braking and acceleration. I
have already eliminated ( propeller shaft, u-joints...etc) all the
other possible sources other than the suspension bushings which appear
to be the originals and nearing 40 years of age. Since I have the car
up on blocks attm until I get time to dig a bit of metal out of the
pushrod tubes or where ever it went, I will probably just drop the
whole rear end and blast, paint and renew it all. What's everyones
feeling about the rear dampers and springs? How can I tell if they
are worn out?
