Maybe, Mike, but at the time, the known good starter, the one in the
car, had its starter drive end explode. I didn't have time to
investigate rebuild options, and the Isuzu seemed like a fast and
reliable solution. I'll bet the rebuild costs were close to the new
starter cost. Rebuild would be at least an hour's labor somewhere, plus
the parts cost. At the time, I think the Isuzu starter cost me less
than $60.
And, I can always use more sheetmetal fabrication practice. I enjoyed
that part. Makes my car just a tad more unique.
