Hey Marc, I use 1/4-28.  Don't know if that's original or not but that's
what I've been using on A series engines for over 40 years.  Just
remember that there are (I think) two different lengths.  The longer is
for the thru-tapped holes and the shorter is for the blind-tapped holes.
Seems like the longer were originally 5/8" long and they are kinda tough
to find at your corner hardware store.  Sooooo, I use 3/4" and just live
with it.
