I would not normally shoot anyone in the back, however the law does allow a
citizen to shoot a fleeing felon. If I came home and found someone in the act
of butchering my family, and he took off running, I would drop him without
hesitation or remorse. If it were a simple burglary, I would just send a dog or
two after him. They can be recalled.

Actually, what I fear is the very real possibility of having to defend myself
against my own government. As a military veteran, member of a pro gun group,
and CCW permit holder, I am probably already on the suspected terrorist list. I
have no desire to take any life, be it human or animal, but if it comes down to
defending myself or my family, I am glad that I live in a country that still
allows me the option.

I now return you to Spridget comment.

Golly, Painless, since I was the 3rd one to say something, I guess it isn't
we all, now is it.

Look, as I explained, I don't mind off topic posts to some degree or
another, either. When it goes on and on like the gun stuff did, it gets a
bit intrusive and probably ought to be taken somewhere else. Further, when
we have people extolling the virtues of being able to shoot people in the
back as they are running away, it really ought to be taken up with a
professional counselor.
