 =C2=A0=C2=A0=C2=A0=C2=A0 Removed the HIF6 carb yesterday and took it to Da=
vid Anton at APT.=C2=A0 He's only five miles away and he sold me the carb a=
nyway.=C2=A0 Well, David is in England visiting family, so I took the carb =
home and decided to take it apart myself again.=C2=A0 I had just rebuilt it=
 before this with a new needle and seat and a new bottom seal.=C2=A0 I had =
also adjusted the float before putting it back together.=C2=A0=20
=C2=A0=C2=A0=C2=A0=C2=A0 I put it back together again after finding nothing=
 wrong with it.=C2=A0 When I reinstalled it, the car started right up.=C2=
=A0 Don't ask me what is different.=C2=A0 Nothing as far as I can see, but =
I must have done something wrong in the reassembly the first time.=C2=A0 As=
 an aside I did find out the rubber connectors on both ends of the vacuum a=
dvance line from the carb to the vacuum unit on the distributor were toast.=
=C2=A0 They were all dried out and cracked, so there was no advance in the =
timing at the higher RPMs.=C2=A0 Things happen for a reason I guess.
=C2=A0=C2=A0=C2=A0=C2=A0 Yes I had drained the old gas and put fresh gas in=
 the tank before the first rebuild of a couple of weeks ago.=C2=A0 Now I ca=
n proceed with the front end alignment.=C2=A0 (I just reconditioned the sus=
pension, brakes and steering. It's been 20 years since the restoration)=C2=
=A0 Also have to drain and refill the Datsun transmission with Redline MT-9=
0.=C2=A0 An oil change and a valve adjustment are also needed.=C2=A0 Let's =
hope the rear axle seal doesn't leak this time.=C2=A0 Being retired is begi=
nning to feel like work.=C2=A0 I guess I missed British Car week too.=C2=A0=

Did you drain the old fuel out and put fresh gas in? The ethanol fuels sepa=
rate out and the heavy gunk that settles on the bottom does not burn! Since=
 it is at the bottom of the tank where the pickup is, it may have been suck=
ed through and stalled your engine.=C2=A0
