Jim Fuerstenberg and I have been discussing cross drilling bolts; he
doesn't have the center drilling jig that I favor, but uses
center drills instead. I didn't realize that they made them small
enough to use for safety wire. He says

You'll probably have to use a drill press to use these. I've used
a hand drill with a jig in the past, in a pinch...
