Paul, and Tigers,

My son Jay, in a never ending battle to get his Alpine front end tire to
fender gap be smaller than he can stick his head in, has spent some time
examining all kinds of springs from various sources and applications.
You will notice that the unladen length is insufficient information to
predict what it's length will be when loaded. Steel temper, material
diameter, number of turns, etc. all play a part here.

The original was in a Word document that properly spaced them in a
table. Unfortunately, the list does NOT support enclosures, so no
guarantees on how this will look on your end. If there is enough
interest, I will convert it to a real table and put it in TigersUnited
Tech Tips section.

Anyway - here it is:

[As measured]

(5 columns) SI, II S3 (SIV, V) Tiger
Outside Diameter 3.87 4.40 4.47 4.53
       [4.375] [4.4375]
Static laden length 7.375 7.375 ? 7.90
 - last 2/3s SII 7.85
Static laden loading (off car) 950lbs (430.91kgs) ? 1080 (492)
Free length 11.175 11.175 12.62 12.04
 - last 2/3s SII 11.65
       [11.1875] [12.375]
Coils [9] [9 + 1"]

     SI-3 SIV, V, Tiger
Upward movement 2.12 2.75
Downward movement 3.43 3.5
Bottom A Arm mount 5.48 5.4
to top of crossmember
(but not top where spring
fits)

     All Cars
length top link 7.675
length bottom link 12.85

Good G-d, that's unreadable even in my own e-mail.

I'll post it and let everyone know the page, but my taxes come first.

Steve
