Listers,
Been off the list for a while and saw the listing on polycarbonate.
"Back in the day" when I learned to weld plastics, Polycarbonate was one of
the things I learned to weld. It was used at the time for most lenses in
taillights and headlights as well as Aerostar Bumpers and reinforcements.
What I have found is that on my 1991 Mustang the headlight lens is composed
of polycarbonate as well and has slight sun hazing around the edges
(California sun) and I plan on polishing it up. I have always used low speed
polishing techniques ... similar to polishing paint... to brighten the lens
to an as new appearance. I have not had to deal with such severe hazing but
will let everyone know how it turns out once I am done . I did polish some
marks out of my hardtop windows when I got the Tiger (all of the windows are
the originals) with good success. Just need to go slow with no heat buildup
and keep everything clean and it worked for me.
Regards,
Tim
