You'll probably get more detailed info soon, but IIRC, Salisbury was the UK 
manufacturer and many people describe the design as a Dana 44 type, which is 
the type used on some Jeeps with solid rear axles. I don't think it's similar 
to Alpine. As someone wrote earlier, if the issue is wanting to change ratios, 
one solution is to do it with different gears on the gearbox.
