Stag Timing Chains

Jamie, you wrote to me regarding the installation of Saab timing chains on
a Stag.  Although my info isn't complete, I haven't heard that it's
actually the chains you replace.  I've heard of British vs. hardened German
timing chains, and consensus is that neither are great, since, the British
ones stretch something awful and the German ones, although they don't
stretch, give no warning before going "SNAP!"

I have read about the timing chain tensioner blocks being used as a
retrofit.  Apparently the tensioners are more durable and better balanced
with the hydraulic pressure of the Stag engine that makes them work.  Seems
I've read that a combination of these tensioners with standard timing
chains is the best combination.  I'll have to check through my back issues
of SOC magazines.  Probably won't have a chance before the weekend.

Oh, and to the list. . .  Just had my first beautiful woman ask me for a
ride in the Stag.  Definitely a side benefit to driving the unpredictable
beast!
