I agree with MJB on buying the SCCA GCR. I don't think that the
"SCCA Approved" roll bar that he mentioned is still legal, although
it depends which class you are planning to run it in. If it is
F-Prod, then I know it isn't legal, and I would recommend that you
head out to your local race track and talk to some people running
F-Prod and see where they had their bars made.

ITC is a different story though. The Autopower bar may be legal
here, but if memory serves me correctly, some of the other mods
that you mentioned are not legal.

The best thing to do is to get the SCCA GCR and the reg books for
the class that you are planning to run the car in and then building
the car to meet the requirements.

Oh yes, please _do not_ scrimp on the roll bar, build it like your
life depends on it. It may. I saw an older Spit go into the trees
at my local track. The owner had built the roll bar to meet the
requirements in effect at the time. It met the letter of the rules,
but with no extra thought to crashworthiness. He barely survived.

Me, no, I don't race any more, I just pick up the pieces as a first
