It appears a thread on wire wheels starts every few weeks here. I am in
the middle of a restoration of a TR250, my first LBC. It has wires, so I
have been keeping a close watch on the various discussions. I don't believe
this question has been posted. (At least for the several months I have been
on the list!)

When putting a wheel on a spline, I encounter a little rotational play between
the spline and the hub of the wheel on a few of my wheels. My guess is this
is a bad sign!

I have not measured the play, obviously it would be very easy to measure.

Is any play acceptable here? I can't believe I can tighten the knockoff cap
enough to keep the rear wheels firmly seated on the spine, so that movement
does not occur between adding power and applying brakes. On the front wheels,
the stress would only be encountered during braking, so at least I would not be
sliding back and forth.

Any thoughts? All comments greatly appreciated.
