>Well I just got a '69 Spitfire. Considering that it has been sitting
outside for the last 8 years I don't think it is in toooo bad shape. I am
told that it was running when it was parked.
>
>The body is fairly straight. It has a lot of surface rust on and under the
very faded paint, but when I prodded it with a small screwdriver it did not
go through anywhere. The floorboard rusted out at some time in the past and
was repaired. I am not sure with what. It has a steel hardtop. There is
no remnant of any soft top.
>
>The bad news is that what is left of the interior belongs in a dumpster.
The seats are gone, and there is no carpet (worth mentioning).

>My questions are:
>
>1 What kind of compression should a '69 spit have? PSI please.
> I want to check it before I remove the engine. Should this be a 1300?
>2 Does anyone have any extra seats? Or know of cheap aftermarket
seats that will fit? I am considering some generic racing seats
from Summit if I can't find the real thing within my budget.
>3 The rear wheels seem to tilt out at the top a little (i think),
does any one know of anything that might cause this?
>4 Does anyone have a diagram of the inner workings of the doors?
> The outer handles don't work and one window (drivers)is off the
track and out of the door.
>5 Does any one need any drive train parts? I expect I won't be using
anything from the radiator to the rear wheels. I would be very happy
to trade mechanicals for interior.
>6 Finally, does any one know what the hardware that help the steel
top on looks like? I have one pin just behind each door and places
where 2 more may have gone in the back, but what is used in the
front? and where can I get these parts?
>
>As you all can tell I have a lot of work to do on this car. But I didn't
want to butcher a healthy specimen for this project, so I think that this
car will suit my needs.

>Thanks in advance for your help.
